I've become very interested in cellular automatons. They're a math concept—simple rules that produce very complex patterns. I've been in my studio lately making computer drawings with the help of these rules. I've also been printing photographs of a mountain in Colorado. The mountain, when seen from a satellite, looks like a monkey. I went hiking there and took my camera. The photographs look like the cellular automatons. In person, the mountain looks like a big hill with lots of snow and rocks and pine trees.
