Maria Hassabi


For SoloShow, I copied close to three-hundred images of women drawn from art history and pop culture, physically collaging and placing them on the edge of my platform or center stage. Obsessively rehearsing in my studio, I found the greatest challenge was sustaining each image while embodying them in live time. That's when the strain, trembling, and tears occurred, and the real fun began.
