Eileen Quinlan

For almost two years I've been working on a series called Smoke & Mirrors. I've spent hours in the studio positioning mirrors before committing an image to film. Since I work with abstraction, I'm often asked about my attitude toward painting, but I relate my practice more to sculpture and to a kind of performance. The smoke never manifests itself the same way twice, so I remain, like most photographers, at the mercy of the event.
