Vanessa Beecroft

We are looking at twenty nude models wearing Philip Treacy "headless" hats and Alexander McQueen shoes. It is VB47, the forty-seventh performance in a continuing body of work that changes slightly each time, the main subjects of which are female models and characters displayed in a museum as a work of art.

VB47 was conceived specifically for the Peggy Guggenheim Collection to take place during the Venice Biennale and refers to De Chirico and the metaphysical period. The intellectually safe location of the collection allows me to show girls without heads in reference to a specific period in painting.
