Roe Ethridge

I shot all the pigeon pictures in the living room of this old farmhouse near Aberdeen, New Jersey. Gwen, the animal wrangler, would kind of throw the pigeon toward a box that contained food and other pigeons. The bird in its flight passes through a beam that simultaneously triggers the strobes and the shutter. So, in a way, the bird is taking a picture of itself. The pigeons were sent up to New Jersey from Universal Studios in Orlando, where they had been trained and were being used in some kind of swamp diorama. Gwen said they sent us the ugly ones.
