Making a photogram of Ariela. The baby is lying directly on a sheet of color- and light-sensitive pho- tographic paper that is submerged underwater. Each child has a unique way of moving its limbs and body; the resultant waves in the water are thus expressive of its life force. At the appropriate moment, the paper, water, and baby are exposed to a flash of colored light, and a moment is captured.
