I'm at the midpoint of my most recent drawing; it's the most satisfying place to be. The basic composition has been worked out, yet I'm not exactly sure what's coming next, and that's exciting. It feels as if the work is generating itself. Memories are grainy flickers of Super 8 film. Ideas are dimly projected slides, barely there but demanding illumination. Art is a compulsion, a way to record memory and ideas. Through drawing, interior merges with exterior, architecture and landscape combine, ancient and contemporary connect.
