Pervert is a work I exhibited in the 1995 Whitney Biennial, and it features a cutting that was done for me by Raelyn Gallinian in 1994. Ten years old now, the cutting still clearly exists, as a scar on my chest. In photographing me with the upcoming Whitney Biennial in mind, Jason Schmidt decided on a simple studio portrait that recalls the original piece.
