There are actually two separate things going on in this photo. Basically, two of the interpreters in my work, This Is So Contemporary, are having a break. The piece consists of three exhibition guards dancing around visitors, singing the line "Oh, this is so con- temporary, contemporary, contemporary" four times, with small variations. During the opening days there was a double cast, so while the work was running inside the German Pavilion, two always took a rest behind the building. People having a break seemed a bit too low for Jason. Since he seemed like a nice guy, I agreed to his suggestion that there should be some movement in this picture. So we rehearsed the singing of This Is So Contemporary, something we hadn't done for a while, since the piece was already up. And it was still fun.
