In this picture, I am eating in my favorite noodle shop in New York City, the Wonton Garden on Mott Street. This was the first noodle shop I went to in Chinatown when I first arrived in New York twenty- odd years ago, the reason being that it's one of the very few noodle shops in Chinatown that has "beef ball noodle soup," which I ate back in Thailand. An old Thai friend I stayed with when I arrived in New York took me there, and I have been going ever since. In the beginning, the waiters were young boys, and now they have become men, while the older waiters still look the same; it must be the soup they take!
