Here I am wondering what this balloon is going to look like the next day when it's in the parade. Companion is a character I first created as a toy thirteen years ago and have lived with every day since, but I know 99.9 percent of the people viewing the parade will have no idea what it is. One thing I feel certain of is that it's the only character in the parade without a narrative. Macy's contacted me over two years ago out of the blue to take part in their Thanksgiving Day parade. I immediately said yes. I wanted to create a balloon that's representative of our times and how confusing and stressful it all can be.
