This project centers on the Columbus statue, which has stood at the top of the column in Columbus Circle in New York City for 120 years. The idea was to build a living room around the monument, 70 feet above the ground, and invite the public inside. It's a project to change people's perspectives—moving something from outside to inside and making something public into something domestic. This is my first major project in the United States, and it's especially exciting that it's in New York, which is a center of contemporary art. More than 100,000 came to experience the piece.
