It's a gray day before Thanksgiving, 2009. I have a show up at Team Gallery in Soho, If we were immortal.

It's my first mostly painting show. It continues where I remember nothing the vinyl wall painting installed in my 2005 Doppelganger Trilogy show at the Guggenheim left off. It's about deconstructing the large swaths of Joy Division bootlegged ephemera with the goal of creating the first original bootleg to mark the uncanny coincidence of Ian Curtis's suicide and the eruption of Mount St. Helens on the same day.

My doppelgänger is wearing a HATE coat modeled after the one Ian wore in the film Control. He's been wearing it in public, in clubs, throughout the show, surreptitiously returning it back to the granite gallery floor every couple of days.
